Triage (walk-ins)
A walk-in sent to triage waits in the nurse’s queue. The
nurse records vitals and chooses an acuity. See Triage and Triage scope and acuity.3
Encounter
The
clinician opens the patient’s record, then writes and signs the note. See Getting access to a record and Encounters and notes.4
Orders and prescribing
From the encounter, the
clinician orders tests and prescribes. See Lab orders and results and Prescribing.5
Lab and pharmacy
The
lab_tech receives the specimen, enters results and releases them. The pharmacist dispenses. See Receive specimens, Enter and release results and Dispense a prescription.6
Results and records
The patient sees released results and the visit in their record. See Records and results.
