Before you start

You need the role lab_tech at the lab the order was sent to.

Steps

Open the queue

Go to Orders (/lab/orders). Orders are grouped as Pending accession, In progress and Released. Each row shows Priority (STAT, Urgent or Routine), Accession, Patient · HPN, Panel, Ordered by, when it was Ordered, and its State.

Open an order

Click the order. You see the Ordered tests and the Clinical indication.

Receive or reject

Under Specimen, click Receive specimen. You see Specimen received — you can enter results. Or click Reject…, pick a Rejection reason · required, such as Haemolysed, Clotted at draw, Insufficient volume, Mislabelled, Wrong tube / additive or Lipaemic, and click Confirm rejection. You see Specimen rejected — recollection needed.

  • Accept specimens so results can be entered.
  • Reject specimens with a reason.
