Before you start

You need the role nurse and a verified NMCN licence, and the patient’s full HPN.

Steps

1

Open the patient

Type the HPN in Find a patient · HPN in the top bar, or open Patient in the sidebar. This opens the patient’s nursing page.
2

Check your basis

The header shows your Basis: Treatment basis · non-sensitive, Patient consent · full record, Break-glass · full record, or No active basis. If it says The chart is consent-protected, click Open a treatment basis.
3

Record vitals

Click Record vitals and enter the readings.
4

Write a nursing note

Open Notes, write your note and click Save nursing note. You see Nursing note saved.

Correct a note

You can’t edit or delete a note or a vital sign. To correct a note, add an addendum to it from Notes. The original stays as it was.

What you can do here

  • See the patient’s Overview: allergies, conditions, medications, last vitals and encounters.
  • Record vitals and notes.
  • See Standing orders.

Emergency access

If a patient can’t consent in an emergency and you must see their full record, the patient page also offers an emergency override. Give a specific reason. The patient is notified, and it is recorded and reviewed. Use it only in a real emergency.
These nursing access routes are built. Clinical governance sign-off is still open (decision D-006).
