# Search

> What you can search for in each part of PHB, and what search can't do yet.

Search works differently in each workspace.

| Where | How to open it | What it finds |
| - | - | - |
| Patient app | ⌘K (Ctrl+K) | Pages and actions in the app only. It doesn't search your record. |
| Hospital | ⌘K (Ctrl+K) in the top bar | Things inside your active facility. |
| Front desk | **Search for a patient** on `/hospital/desk` | Patients by name, phone or HPN. Name and phone only find patients who have been to your facility. |
| Front desk | **They already have PHB** | A patient's existing HPN, when they can't remember it. See [They already have PHB](/guides/front-desk/they-already-have-phb). |
| Clinical | ⌘K, or **Patients** | A patient by **full HPN** only. Name and phone search show as pending. |
| Nursing | **Find a patient · HPN** in the top bar | A patient by full HPN only. |
| Pharmacy | **By HPN** or **By phone** on Dispense and Record a sale | A patient's prescriptions or record. |
| Lab | The **Orders** queue | Orders sent to your lab. |
| Clinical Tools | The search box on `/clinical/tools` | Calculators and tools. If nothing matches, you can request one. |
| Public help page | The search box on `/help` | Not available yet. |

## Tips

* Type HPNs without dashes. PHB adds them.
* A wrong check digit is caught before the search runs.
* Every desk search is recorded.
