# Share with a clinician

> Share your record with a doctor who isn't on PHB, using a link and a passphrase that expire.

You can share your record with any clinician, even one who isn't on PHB. They don't need an account.

## Before you start

You need to be signed in, and to have something in your record to share.

## Steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open sharing">
    Go to **Consent** → **Share with a clinician**, or `/consent?view=share`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="What to share">
    Choose **Summary — allergies, conditions & medicines (recommended)** or **Full record — everything, including visits**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="How many times and how long">
    Choose **How many times it can be opened**, from **Once (single use)** upward, and when it **Expires after**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the link">
    You see **Your share link is ready**, with a link and a passphrase. Copy both.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send them separately">
    **Don't send the link and the passphrase together.** For example, send the link by message and say the passphrase out loud.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  The passphrase is shown only once. If you lose it, revoke the link and make a new one.
</Warning>

## What the clinician sees

They open the link at `/share/…`, enter the passphrase, and see what you chose, marked with a watermark. Each opening uses up one of the allowed views. After the limit or the expiry, the link stops working.

## What you can do here

* Create share links.
* See your active links and **revoke** any of them at any time.

## Common problems

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| **Nothing to share yet** | Your record is empty. Visit a facility on PHB, or add your own health details first. |
| The clinician says the link doesn't work | It may have expired, been used up, or been locked after wrong passphrases. Make a new one. |
