# Consent and access requests

> Approve or decline a clinician's request to see your record, and revoke access you gave.

You decide who sees your record. A clinician asks, and you answer in the app.

## Before you start

You need to be signed in. Open **Consent** (`/consent`).

## Steps

### Approve or decline a request

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the request">
    When a clinician asks, you get a notification. Open it, or go to **Consent** → **Pending requests**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read it">
    You see the **Healthcare provider**, their **Licence**, **What they want to see** and **For how long**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Decide">
    Choose what to share and for how long, and grant it. Or click **Decline**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Done">
    You see **Access granted.** and a receipt with the grantee, purpose, start and expiry.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You can't start a grant from nothing. A clinician has to ask first. If you open an old request, you see **This request isn't available**.

### Use a consent code instead

If you're with the clinician, they can send a code to your phone. Read the code to them. That gives them access there and then.

### Revoke access

1. Open **Consent**.
2. Find the active grant and revoke it.
3. Choose a reason, such as **I no longer want this party seeing my data**.
4. You see **Access revoked.**

The screen also explains what revoking can't undo, such as information they already have.

## What you can do here

* Approve, decline and revoke access.
* Approve requests for a child you manage, from **Family**.

## Common problems

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| **This request isn't available** | It expired or was already answered. Ask the clinician to send a new one. |
| **Your session expired. Please sign in again to grant access.** | Sign in and open the request again. |
