# Roles at your facility

> The 10 roles you can give staff at a hospital, pharmacy or lab, and what each one can do.

A role belongs to one facility. A person can hold more than one role at the same facility, and different roles at different facilities.

## The roles

| Role | Who it's for | Signs in at | Can | Can't |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `owner` | The facility's owner | `/hospital/login` | Everything an admin can, plus manage owners | — |
| `admin` | Facility administrator | `/hospital/login` | Invite and manage staff, configuration, wards and beds, tariffs (edit), audit log | Remove an owner |
| `finance` | Finance team | `/hospital/login` | Claims, reconciliation, edit and publish tariffs, payout account, co-sign tariff changes | Manage staff, see clinical records |
| `medical_director` | Medical director | `/hospital/login` | Co-sign tariff changes and payouts, view the audit log, manage the on-call rota | Use the clinical workspace, unless also a verified doctor |
| `cashier` | Cashier | `/hospital/login` | Invoices, payments, registration fees | Change prices, approve large refunds, see clinical records |
| `receptionist` | Front desk | `/hospital/login` | Find, register and check in patients, walk-ins, coverage | See clinical records, manage staff |
| `clinician` | Doctor | `/clinical/login` | Once their MDCN licence is verified: see patients, notes, prescribing, lab orders | Anything clinical before verification |
| `nurse` | Nurse | `/hospital/login` | Once their NMCN licence is verified: triage, vitals, ward board, handover, tasks | Prescribe |
| `pharmacist` | Pharmacist | `/pharmacy/login` | Dispense, record sales, register patients at the counter, stock | Prescribe |
| `lab_tech` | Lab scientist | `/lab/login` | Receive specimens, enter results. Release with a verified MLSCN licence. | Curate the test catalogue |

<Note>
  For doctors, the role alone is not enough. A doctor needs the `clinician` role **and** a verified MDCN licence. Nurses need NMCN to record clinical work. Lab scientists need MLSCN to release results. Pharmacists need PCN verification.

## What every role can see

Every role can see the facility overview, its configuration, tariffs and the admissions list. Money figures on the overview are shown only to `owner`, `admin`, `cashier` and `finance`.
