# Tariff co-sign

> How finance and the medical director approve price changes of more than 5%.

A price change of more than 5% needs two signatures before it goes live: one from finance and one from the medical director. This is called dual control.

## Before you start

You need the role `finance` or `medical_director`. An owner alone can't sign.

## Steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find the request">
    Your sidebar shows a badge when a tariff is waiting. Open **Tariffs → Co-sign**, which goes to the tariff section of `/hospital/config`. Open the version marked **Pending co-sign**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the change">
    Read the reason and the flagged lines. Compare it with the live version.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign or reject">
    Click **Sign / approve**, or **Reject**. You see **Signed.** or **Rejected.**
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for the second signature">
    When both the finance part and the medical director part are signed, by two different people, the version goes live.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What you can do here

* Sign your part of a co-sign request.
* Reject a request.
* **Withdraw** a request you raised.

## Common problems

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| **You already signed a leg of this request** | The other part must be signed by someone else. |
| **You hold both roles — specify which leg to sign.** | Choose which role you are signing for. Someone else signs the other part. |
| The request has expired | Ask the person who made the change to publish again. |
